William (Bill) Buterman

Axcess CapitalIn 2002, Bill co-founded the Axcess Capital Group of Companies, which has grown to administer and/or manage over 14 investment funds in the Exempt market space.
Since inception, Bill has been one of the principals and managing partners of the Axcess Capital Group of Companies.
Currently CEO & UDP of Axcess Capital Advisors Inc., Bill also serves as a Director of Axcess Capital Managers.
Bill has a deep history of due diligence, compliance and governance work in conjunction to serving as a past board member of the Real Estate Council of Alberta (RECA), and past Chairman of the Board of RECA, Chair of Governance & Finance and Audit. He is a member of numerous other international real estate industry organizations. Mr. Buterman has served as a Director and CEO of various mortgage investment corporations.
Carol Hobbs, CA
Chief Financial Officer
Axcess CapitalCarol Hobbs is a partner and the Chief Financial Officer for Axcess Capital Advisors and Axcess Capital Managers.
She brings over 25 years’ experience as a Chartered Accountant.
Carol has worked nationally and internationally in private and in public companies as Controller/Chief Financial Officer overseeing finance, IT and Human Resources in industries ranging from oil and gas, software, transportation, waste management and real estate.
Having articled with one of the Big Four, Carol also completed an income tax specialty with the firm.
Peter Jarman, B.Sc.
Chief Operating Officer
Axcess CapitalPeter Jarman is a Partner and Chief Operating Officer at Axcess Capital Advisors. He oversees business development, investment selection, advisor services, and sits on the Investment Review Committee.
Peter has worked in the exempt market for over 17 years, with experience as an investment issuer, managing partner and team leader, both in sales and operations. Prior to working with the Axcess Capital Advisors, Peter provided consulting services to product issuers, assisting them in building new distribution channels for exempt market investment offerings with EMDs and IIROC firms.
Peter is an engaging presenter and writer, and contributed a chapter on real estate in mixed asset portfolios for the book Taxation, Valuation and Investment Strategies in Volatile Markets (Carswell, 2010).
Margaret Donald
Director of Accounting Services
Axcess CapitalMargaret joined the firm in 2018 as Director Account Services. She works very closely with the CFO and the company auditors.
Margaret started out in accounting when she was 19. While working in the Non-for-profit, private and public sectors she gained vital experience in all aspects of the accounting field and she finished studying for her CMA.
After a 6-year stint as an entrepreneur, she got back into accounting by working for an oil and gas company. She rose to be the company’s Controller and oversaw the tax and accounting systems for both the US and Canada entities.
Muriel King
Manager Administration & Data Systems
Axcess CapitalMuriel is an experienced data systems and office administrator and continues to use her wealth of extensive experience in these areas to support the clients and staff of Axcess Capital Advisors and Axcess Capital Managers.
Prior to joining the firm, she worked with Western Canada Water where she was coordinator of membership services and Mount Royal University where she provided training and computer support for various systems and software.
Muriel has a diploma in Computer Technology from SAIT, and continues to upgrade her technical knowledge through learning and working with new programs and systems.
Barry Bennett
Senior Commercial Underwriter
Axcess CapitalBarry Bennett joined Axcess in 2007 as Senior Commercial Underwriter, working with borrowing clients, mortgage brokers and syndicated lenders.
He has overseen the development of mortgage portfolios with a focus on Western Canada as well as mortgage portfolio management and Asset Recovery.
Prior to joining Axcess, Barry gained a broad range of lending experience including Regional Manager of Agriculture for the Alberta Region of CIBC.
Brittany Small
Compliance Coordinator
Axcess CapitalBrittany joined the firm in the summer of 2021 as Compliance Coordinator.
Before joining Axcess she was a Police Officer with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for 9 years. She spent the first three years of her career working in remote communities in the Northwest Territories. She then transferred to Southern Alberta and spent the last 6 years of her career policing rural communities and specialized in interviewing and investigating abuse against children. Brittany left the RCMP in 2019 to pursue her LLB in Glasgow, Scotland. She returned to Canada due to Covid and was hired on with Axcess. She is continuing the pursuit of her LLB through distance learning with the University of London, England.
Mark Pollitt
CCO
Axcess CapitalMark Pollitt is the Chief Compliance Officer at Axcess Capital Advisors. He oversees the firm’s regulatory compliance regime including supervision and risk management of all compliance-related activities.
Mark holds a Business Marketing diploma from S.A.I.T. and a Bachelor of Management, Finance Major, from the University of Lethbridge. He completed the Canadian Securities Course and the Partners, Directors, and Senior Officers (PDO) Examination from the Canadian Securities Institute. Mark has been a Chief Compliance Officer in the province of Alberta since the fall of 2010.
Mark works closely with the firm’s COO and registered staff to ensure compliance requirements and business priorities are aligned.
